Easily one of my proudest moments was when I had a dream that alien invaders stole our sine and cosine functions. People could only run away from them in straight lines, and car engines wouldn't turn on because the pistons's periodic motion could be decomposed as a Fourier series. (I know that it wasn't completely mathematically accurate, but it was pretty good for a dream, right?)
